St. Nursery/Toddler and Twos Activity Rooms offer music, puzzles, drawing and play each Sunday from 9:45 AM until noon. Children must be signed in and out of these rooms. “Bible Stories Through Art” is the way children learn in our 3s and 4s classes. These are classes where children create their art while they hear the stories. “Godly Play” is the curriculum used in our kindergarten class. Children experience their room as sacred space in “Godly Play”, a curriculum developed by Episcopal priest, Jerome W. Berryman. The goal of “Godly Play” is to teach children the art of using religious language, parable, sacred story, silence, and liturgical action to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence around them and in their lives. “All Things New” is the lectionary-based curriculum used in our First Grade and Second/Third Grade classes. This Episcopal curriculum takes the children more fully into the Gospel lessons of the morning through bible study, games and art. “Living the Good News” is the lectionary-based curriculum resource taught in our Fourth & Fifth Grade and Middle School classes. This curriculum uses stories of the bible, stories of the saints, and experiences of today, through study, music, games and art to continue a deeper understanding of God’s presence in our lives. Our high school students spend some of their classroom hour involved in preparing for teaching some of our younger classes one Sunday a month. Their Sunday mornings are spent in dialogue around what is happening in their world, the wider world and how they see God present in their lives. Our high school and middle schoolers spend much of their time involved in service to the church or in outreach. Our Youth Group, for 6th through 12th graders, meets each Sunday evening 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Youth events occur at various times throughout the year. You are invited to talk with Debbi Rodahaffer, Director of Christian Education, about your child’s participation in our church school. drodahaf@stmatt-ky.org |
