As the only current Saturday food-pantry in the East End, our hungry guests may include unemployed, low-wage workers, and those who aren’t free on weekdays. In addition to parishioners and guests, children and teenagers also volunteer. There is something for everyone, regardless of age or physical condition – whether setting up tables, displaying food, breaking down boxes, supervising a food station, collecting shopping carts, sweeping the floor, signing in guests, or assisting disabled guests obtain food. Some of our regular monthly volunteers are elementary school age children.

Our guests include all racial, gender and age groups. Some are out of work. Others are the working poor. We have seen several families carpool in a well traveled vehicle and watched individuals step out of luxury cars to obtain food. They all have a life story, and many guests freely share them. It is amazing how much you can learn about other people, the world, and your place within it while accompanying a guest from Saints Hall to a car in the parking lot. It is the personal contact and connection to other people that makes our food pantry a truly special place.
