We have two EfM groups at St. Matthew’s currently. Both have members of the parish as well as an occasional visitor/participant from other traditions. One group meets on Monday evenings, the second on Tuesday mornings. All participants come to EfM with questions, beliefs, doubts and faith. The program invites you to explore, examine and enrich your religious journey. We do all this in the context of rich materials provided by the theological faculty of The University of the South (Sewanee) and our weekly seminary groups. Quite importantly, each seminar group (limited to 12) is consistently a community of people on a variety of faith journeys. Thus, by its nature, EfM welcomes and expects a wide diversity of ideas and opinions. The curriculum takes us one academic year at a time through the Old and New Testaments and then though Church history to the present day. As you consider EfM, please spend some time at the Sewanee EfM website: http://www.sewanee.edu/EFM/EFMhome.html Here you will find wonderful information in ample detail as well as a couple of sample chapters of our reading material. All quite helpful. A primary responsibility of mine as an EfM mentor is to process all registrations for the parish…as well as moderating weekly seminar groups. Bar none, I believe EfM is the most exciting adult education program in the Episcopal Church! I invite your curiosity and questions. Please be in touch. |
