St. Matthew's is one of only 6 churches in
the Louisville area that have had a Habitat crew working one
Saturday a month for the past 10 years. We have sponsored homes our self
and with Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. Our crew has also
worked on many, many other houses.
Raise the Roof On September 25-26, 2009 St. Matthew’s Church and Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church (our covenant parish) will "Raise The Roof" on a Habitat for Humanity House. Your support and labor are helping to make this possible. Habitat for Humanity has as its Mission Statement: to work in partnership with God and people everywhere to develop communities by building and renovating houses. Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian organization that helps low-income families. The philosophy of Habitat is that the economically disadvantaged need capital not charity, co-workers not caseworkers, in order to obtain a decent house in a decent community. Habitat began building in Louisville in 1986; to date over 300 homes have been constructed. Volunteers from St. Matthew’s work the first Saturday of each month. "Raise The Roof" in September will be a grand event. Plan to participate! If you would like to get involved with "Raise The Roof" or any other project that Habitat has to offer, call Bob Clark at 245-5633, or send him an email: rjc502@bellsouth.net. |
