| Pictures and Message from Daniel Ochieng - February 2008 |
 | 25 Feb 2008
Greetings in Christ name hopping that you are all fine in the Lord,
ours here is fine in him despite the challenges.
We have had some time of peace, and we are in prayers for total peace, we have just had sad moments witnessing the burial of the post election violence, on Saturday a man from our tribe buried his two wives and eight children who were killed in Naivasha it was a very sad moment. Now sickness and famine is looming as people are living under very poor condition , and many are not having enough to eat as the cost of food as gone up more than double.
Life has just become very expensive here in Kenya,. We thank God the orphans are all doing well, and God is helping us to meet their daily needs.
We are living at hard time, we value your prayers so much at this time.
We are just anxious to know the plans you have for this year 2008, which projects are you planning to undertake this year, hopping that peace will prevail and life will return to normal.
Thanks for your love and prayers
Greetings from the orphans , the staff and the committee

| UNREST IN KENYA: FROM RONGO We have heard from our friend Daniel Ochieng at the Rongo orphanage in the midst of the horrific uprisings and riots after the presidential election in Kenya: We really thank God for your love and prayers. We are safe, all the orphans and workers are ok. Pray for our country Kenya, many people have been killed in post election violence, many children have been left orphans, many families have been left homeless, many people have lost their source of income, as many business houses have been burned, many properties destroyed. It is very sad what has happened and what is happening in Kenya. From 29 Dec. it is only today that we have been able to walk out of the house. There has been a lot of gun shots, and screams of people being killed by the bullets, but we are safe, although our friends, relatives, church members have been affected. Pray for them. There are reported outbreaks of cholera in some camps, where people are living as refugees in their own country. Many people are now starving as the cost of food is more than double now pray for our country Kenya. My neighbor will be buried on Friday he has let a widow and 2 orphans. He was the bread winner, pray for his family, it is sad. Rongo is like a ghost town with burned houses, and burned tires on the road, it is sad very sad, pray with us. Thanks for your love and prayers. Greetings and love from the orphans and all the staff, and the committee. Yours in Christ! Love, Daniel UNREST IN KENYA: HOW TO HELP Episcopal Relief and Development stands ready to provide emergency assistance to communities in Kenya affected by election-related civil unrest. The outcome of the presidential election held last Thursday is hotly contested and violent protests have erupted across the country between supporters of President Mwai Kibaki and opposition leader Raila Odinga. The extent of the violence is severe. At least 300 people have been killed so far, including 35 who were burned to death after seeking shelter in a church. Tens of thousands have fled their homes amid the unrest, forced to seek protection from uncontained armed mobs and looters. One thousand refugees have already crossed the border into Uganda and are being sheltered in two reception centers there. Businesses across the country are closed and the Kenyan currency has already fallen 7% against the US Dollar. Flights and tours have been cancelled. The impact of the disorder in Kenya-the most industrialized country with the strongest economy in East Africa- is reverberating throughout the region. Many of the country’s neighbors depend on it for essential imports like fuel, cooking oil, salt and flour. Episcopal Relief and Development has contacted several church partners across Kenya to assist in the provision of relief to individuals injured in the violence and to those whose property has been damaged and livelihoods affected. To help people affected by the violence in Kenya, please make a donation to ERD’s “Emergency Relief Fund” online at http://www.er-d.org/ , or call 1-800-334-7626, ext. 5129. Gifts can be mailed to: Episcopal Relief and Development “Emergency Relief Fund” P.O. Box 7058, Merrifield, VA 22116-7058. | We really thank God for you, you have made the Center to look different, people really admire the hats and the dorm, may God bless you more and more Ephesians 3,20-21.The orphans are really happy and proud of their home and you people just to quote what few have said, although all have a word.
